This Gran Reserva comes from the winery's own vineyards around Uruñuela, located in the heart of Rioja Alta. The vineyards are situated at an altitude between 500 and 800 meters, where the cooler climate ensures a slow and even ripening of the grapes. This gives the wine its characteristic balance of power, elegance, and freshness. Rioja Alta is world-renowned for its refined wines with depth and classic style.
The wine is only produced in the best years. The blend consists of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha, sourced from carefully selected parcels. Only the best grapes are used for this cuvée.
After a strict selection, the wine undergoes a minimum of 24 months of aging in oak barrels, made with American oak (staves) and French oak (heads). Subsequently, the wine ages for at least another 36 months in the bottle in the cellars. This long maturation provides complexity, softness, and an exceptionally refined structure.
The 2017 vintage in Rioja is considered an excellent year with very high quality. The conditions yielded concentrated grapes with beautiful balance and aromatic intensity. This results in wines with elegance, structure, and great aging potential.
A powerful and elegant, layered Gran Reserva with a ruby red color and slight development in hue. On the nose and palate, toasted notes along with ripe red fruit and spicy accents. The wine is round, full, and balanced with a long finish. Perfectly balanced between wood, fruit, and freshness.
Excellent with meat dishes such as beef, leg of lamb, and game. Also delicious with slow-cooked stews and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18 °C and preferably decant the wine before serving.
