Weingut Kranz

Weingut Kranz is located in the southern part of the Palatinate region. It's a small family business, now run by the 5th generation. Winemaker Xavier recently took his first steps in winemaking and works closely with his father, Boris. He operates entirely within the winery's philosophy but also leaves his own mark on the style.

Terroir and sustainable practices are central. The specific conditions in this part of the Palatinate, concerning soil, microclimates, and climate, allow the wines to speak for themselves. Working with great respect for nature and the environment in the vineyards is part of the family's philosophy.

The hill that towers beautifully above the vineyards of the village of Ilbesheim, the Kleine Kalmit, is ideal for Riesling and the well-known Burgundy varietals due to its location and calcareous soil.

Since 2012, Weingut Kranz has also been a member of the VDP, an association of 200 top winemakers who are allowed to use the quality designations from Burgundy for their best vineyards: Erste Lage and Grosses Gewächs (Premier Cru and Grand Cru).
