The Astruc Chardonnay is a typical oak-aged Chardonnay. A wine with that famous buttery note. The wine is full-bodied, but surprisingly fresh and lively.
The vineyards are located in Limoux, one of the “crus” of the Languedoc. The high altitude and the cool influences of the Pyrenees always ensure beautiful, fresh acidity that is usually lacking in wines from such warm regions.
The wine ages entirely in oak barrels, of which 1/3 are new and 2/3 are 2 years old. Half of these barrels are French, the other half American. In the glass, the Astruc Chardonnay Reserve has a light, golden-yellow color with intense notes of flowers, brioche, butter, vanilla, and hints of pineapple, lime, and quince on the nose.
This pairs well with pasta with smoked salmon, risotto with chicken and lemon, or pan-fried sea bass with beurre blanc.
