This Reserva comes from our own vineyards around Uruñuela, located in the heart of Rioja Alta. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 500 to 800 meters, where the cooler climate ensures a slow, even ripening of the grapes. This results in wines with a beautiful balance between power and elegance.
Rioja Alta is known for its refined style, with freshness and depth.
The wine consists of 90% Tempranillo, supplemented with approximately 10% Garnacha for extra roundness and fruit. After a strict selection of grapes from the best plots, fermentation follows. The wine then matures for at least 24 months in both American and French barrels. Subsequently, the wine receives at least 12 months of bottle aging for additional complexity.
The 2020 vintage in Rioja faced challenges due to hail and mildew, resulting in lower yields. Thanks to careful selection and craftsmanship, Leza García still managed to produce balanced wines. The wines are characterized by a moderate alcohol content, fresh acidity, and a deep color. The style shows similarities with 2016, partly due to cooling rainfall at the end of the season.
A powerful and elegant Reserva with ripe dark fruit, such as black cherries and berries. Complemented by notes of vanilla, spices, and a slight hint of toast from the oak aging. The wine has a beautiful structure, refined tannins, and a fresh undertone. Long and balanced finish.
Perfect with grilled beef, lamb dishes, and rich stews. Also an excellent choice with hard cheeses and dishes with roasted vegetables. Serve at around 16–18 °C.
