DESCRIPTION

With this 'Ortswein', winemaker Boris Kranz proves that the terroir of Ilbesheim also produces world-class red wines. The Spätburgunder vines grow here on complex soils of limestone and loess. This yields concentrated grape bunches and gives the wine a beautiful structure.

After manual harvesting and spontaneous fermentation, the wine is given ample time to mature in oak barrels. Now, a few years later, it reveals its true potential. The aroma is enticing and layered. On the palate, it combines power with finesse. The tannins are silky smooth, and the calcareous soil ensures beautiful expression and a long finish.

Weingut Kranz is located in the southern part of the Pfalz. It is a small family business, now run by the 5th generation. Winemaker Xavier recently took his first steps in winemaking and works closely with his father, Boris. He operates entirely in line with the winery's philosophy, yet he also puts his own stamp on the style.
