With the 'La Pinturera' line, the Domeco de Jarauta family demonstrates that the Garnacha grape can produce spectacular wines in the warmer eastern part of Rioja. The old vines here are deeply rooted in calcareous clay soils. This results in relatively low yields, which translates directly into enormous flavor concentration and a beautiful natural freshness in the grapes.
After a careful manual harvest, this wine ages for about 11 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels. The wood absolutely does not overpower here, but beautifully rounds off the wine and lends it a subtle spiciness. In the glass, you see a bright, cherry-red color. The nose is irresistible, with plenty of red and dark fruit and soft spices. This is absolutely not a heavy, ponderous oak bomb, but rather an extremely charming Rioja that you can even chill slightly!
Pair the wine with a tapas platter, grilled poultry, pork tenderloin, or veal.
